What is the most important information I should know about Inderal?

What is Inderal?
• Inderal is in a class of drugs called beta-blockers inderal la 80. Beta-blockers affectthe heart and circulatory system (arteries and veins) inderal la 80.
• Inderal is used to reduce hypertension (high blood pressure), to treatangina (chest pain), to treat irregular heartbeats, to treat migraines, to treattremor, and to reduce the risk of a recurrent heart attack inderal la 80.
• Inderal may also be used for purposes other than those listed in thismedication guide inderal la 80.
What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Inderal?
• Do not take Inderal if you are taking thioridazine (Mellaril) inderal la 80. Takingthese medicines together could result in dangerous, even fatal, irregular heartbeats inderal la 80.
• Before taking Inderal, tell your doctor if you have
· asthma;
· heart problems such as low blood pressure, a slow heart rate, heartblock, sick sinus syndrome, a pacemaker, heart failure, or others;
· diabetes;
· depression;
· thyroid disease;
· kidney disease;
· liver disease; or
· any type of circulation problems inderal la 80.
• You may not be able to take Inderal, or you may require a dosage adjustmentor special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listedabove inderal la 80.

How should I take Inderal?

• Inderal can be taken with or without food inderal la 80. Each dose of InnoPran XL shouldbe taken in the same way, either with or without food inderal la 80.
• Take Inderal at the same time every day whenever possible inderal la 80. InnoPran XLshould be taken at bedtime (approximately 10 p.m.) inderal la 80.
• Do not crush, chew, break, or open the long-acting or extended-releasecapsules (Inderal LA, InnoPran XL) inderal la 80. Swallow them whole inderal la 80.

What happens if I overdose?
• Seek emergency medical attention inderal la 80.
• Symptoms of a Inderal overdose include a slow heartbeat, shortness ofbreath, fainting, dizziness, weakness, confusion, nausea, and vomiting inderal la 80.
What should I avoid while taking Inderal?
• Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardousactivities inderal la 80. Inderal may cause drowsiness, dizziness, and blood pressure changes inderal la 80. If you experience drowsiness or dizziness, avoid these activities inderal la 80.
• Use alcohol cautiously inderal la 80. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizzinesswhile taking this medication inderal la 80.
• Tell your doctor and dentist that you are taking this medication beforehaving surgery inderal la 80.
What are the possible side effects of Inderal?
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop takingInderal and call your doctor immediately or seek emergency medical treatment:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat;swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; hives);
· wheezing or shortness of breath;
· an unusually slow or irregular heart beat;
· swelling of the feet or lower legs;
· leg pain or cramping;
· sudden weight gain (more than 2 pounds in one day or 5 pounds in oneweek);
· chest (heart) pain;
· unusually cold or blue feet and hands; or
· skin rash inderal la 80.
• If you experience any of the following less serious side effects, continuetaking Inderal and talk to your doctor:
· fatigue or confusion;
· headache or dizziness;
· weak pulse or mildly slow heart rate;
· diarrhea, constipation, gas, nausea, or vomiting;
· depression;
· nightmares; or
· impotence (difficulty obtaining or maintaining an erection) inderal la 80.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur inderal la 80. Talk to yourdoctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome inderal la 80.
What other drugs will affect Inderal?

· another heart medicine such as nifedipine (Procardia, Adalat), reserpine(Serpasil), verapamil (Calan, Verelan, Isoptin), diltiazem (Cardizem, DilacorXR), clonidine (Catapres), or digoxin (Lanoxin);
· a diabetes medication such as insulin, glyburide (Diabeta, Micronase,Glynase), glipizide (Glucotrol), chlorpropamide (Diabinese), or metformin (Glucotrol);
· a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) such as ibuprofen (Motrin,Advil, others), naproxen (Aleve, Anaprox, Naprosyn, others), or ketoprofen (Orudis,Orudis KT, Oruvail);
· a respiratory medication such as albuterol (Ventolin, Proventil, Volmax,others), bitolterol (Tornalate), metaproterenol (Alupent, Metaprel), pirbuterol(Maxair), terbutaline (Brethaire, Brethine, Bricanyl), or theophylline (Theo-Dur,Theochron, Theolair, others), and others;
· warfarin (Coumadin);
· haloperidol (Haldol); or
· a prescription or over-the-counter cough medication, cold medicine,or diet pill inderal la 80.
• You may not be able to take Inderal, or you may require a dosage adjustmentor special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicineslisted above inderal la 80.
• Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Inderal oraffect your condition inderal la 80. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking anyprescription or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products inderal la 80.
